Actually, happiness is interconnected with your health success. This means that healthier people feel happier too and tend to have a better quality of life. It goes without saying that having good health can make you feel energetic, motivate you, and help you realize your dreams and goals.

Considering that stress is running high right now with the pandemic and other complicated global events, I wanted to share a few quick tips for overall health success that I try to follow myself to live a healthy and happy life.

So if you’re looking for ways to improve your physical or mental health, read on through these 4 tips for health success below.

1.   Remove Obstacles to Cure

Have you ever wondered if there is something in your life that is inhibiting you from moving forward?

What else can you think of?

Most of the time, it’s hard to identify the reason why you may feel stressed. But if you realize that any of these obstacles are slowing down your progress and aren’t letting you move forward, then you should seriously think about removing them from your life. And the first step to this is to become aware of all the difficulties that your physical or mental health is currently facing.

What I mean here is that you shouldn’t let your poor health habits or nutrient deficiencies damage your health. Why? Because studies prove that your health habits are directly related to your behavioral self-control and performance (e.g., Valiente-Barroso, 2014). Therefore, if you remove obstacles such as inflammatory foods and focus on the balance of nutrients in your body, you can live a healthier life. And achieving this balance is only possible if you realize what kind of nutrients your body craves and what you can consume through dietary sources to function properly.

But guess what?

Eating a healthy diet and having a balance of minerals in your body isn’t enough to achieve health success. Instead, your mental health is also an integral part of your overall health. As a result, poor relationship quality, a lack of direction, or a loss of sense of purpose in life all have an impact on your overall health. What does it mean?

It means that if you really want to maintain optimal health, you should also start to work on your social relationships and life goals too. Just try to surround yourself with positive and supportive people who love and care about you, explore yourself, define your goals, and develop a plan to achieve these goals. That way, you’ll remove obstacles from your life and cure yourself, which will lead to health success in turn.

2.   Give the Body and Mind What it Needs

Our thoughts, feelings, and attitudes usually affect the way we function biologically. Therefore, there is a significant connection between our bodies and our minds. Consequently, if you want to live a healthy life, you should take care of your body and mind equally. But do you know what the things are that your body and mind need right now?

What is it that your mind just needs to rest from your everyday responsibilities? Or maybe your body is tired of sitting all day and requires more exercise. You won’t be surprised if I tell you that receiving enough love and support is always important for feeling positive too.

But the truth is that a lot of people don’t even understand what something that doesn’t go right in their lives is. Most of us are so overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities that we rarely remember that our life isn’t only about avoiding or handling day-to-day stressors. Of course, handling stressors is important and you should have healthy and adaptive mechanisms for it, but health success is much more than that.

So why don’t you try to become aware of all the things that your body and mind need right now? For this, you can start by creating a simple list like this:

3.   Spiritual Development

You may not be the most religious person in the world, but the simple truth is that spiritual development is important for dealing with difficult experiences in our lives. In fact, spirituality is different from religion. Thus, if you don’t usually go to church, it doesn’t mean that you can’t take care of your spiritual development. Instead, spiritual growth might help you to find meaning in life and improve your emotional well-being as a result.

So, try to rely on spiritual development for health success. Whether it is through meditation, prayer, church, rituals, or fostering a sense of connectivity through volunteering, you should know that healthy spirituality is beneficial for your health. Specifically, a 2019 study conducted in the Baruch Ivcher School of Psychology proves that spirituality contributes to higher subjective well-being and prosociality (Kor et al., 2019). This means that spirituality is a significant factor in positive development.

That’s why you should explore what feeds your soul. Remember that some people perceive spiritual development in terms of doing kind things to their loved ones. Others explore their souls by performing activities such as meditation or mindfulness and connecting with their bodies. Therefore, you are the one who needs to explore the spiritual journey that is suitable for your body and mind. Every individual is unique, and everyone perceives spirituality in their own way.

So, the key here is to obtain a sense of peace and balance in the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your life.

4.   Intentional Living

What does the gift of wonderment look like to you?

If you don’t have an exact answer, you might consider discussing this with a friend, your loved one, or a counselor. Others enjoy creating vision boards or journaling about their goals and objectives.

In any case, intentional living will help you live a healthier life and become a happier person. Living intentionally means setting clear goals, following your values, and attempting to live according to your own standards, not someone else’s. And the first step of this process is to identify your core values and develop a plan to follow your intentions. This will help you focus on everything that truly matters to you and your well-being.

So, make sure that your daily decisions lead you towards your goals and not away from them.
